Indian coach Gary Kirsten's comments blaming the IPL for India's World T20 exit hasn't gone down too well with the BCCI.
Kirsten has been advised by top BCCI officials not to comment on the IPL, according to sources.
It is also learnt that the players have been asked not to talk about the IPL and whether it affected their preparations for the World T20.
Kirsten had cited the IPL has one of the main reasons for Indian players not playing at the intensity which was desired to compete in the World T20. "A lot of our cricketers carried injuries into this tournament. They picked up niggles in the IPL and we lost contact with them," he said.
BCCI's media and finance committee chairman Rajiv Shukla had told the channel CNN-IBN on Wednesday that Kirsten wouldn't be censured for his comments that attributed fatigue and the IPL to India's early exit from the World T20.
"I don't think there will be any gag. He has given other positive suggestions also, which we have not picked up as yet because those suggestions will not create any controversy," he had said.
But 24 hours after stating that Kirsten won't be gagged for his comments on the IPL, the BCCI did a U-turn.
The BCCI had earlier imposed another gag order on Kirsten, stopping him from writing columns about the Indian team or the BCCI on his own website.
